ART LIVE TURNS FIVE!
The Chelsea season was officially opened this past Thursday with the fifth annual Art Live, ART LIVE 2011.
Police helicopters swarmed the sky and hovered over the crowds unsure of riotous celebration or political unrest. As gallerists flocked to the attention they were greeted by close to a thousand onlookers; all enjoying the spectacle of visual inundation.
Expectations ran high and the record-breaking attendance did not disappoint as over a dozen international artists flew in and descended upon the celebration. Attendance continued throughout the weekend at a fever's pitch despite the traditional holiday exodus.
Visitors were witness to a collection of 41 works from 39 artists representing 28 countries. The brilliant curation is direct and apparent in its conciseness. One can truly understand the founding principals of Art Live; that of understanding the world we currently live in and the curiously common thread that is drawn, pulling us together as one.

Please join us September 1 as we celebrate our annual global review of the state of things.
This year's creative drive is likened to beating a dead horse, on the one hand the intensity of the conviction is admirable, while on the other there exists an element of blindsidedness. Such determination is valiant, but is mired by its own conflictive nature.
The question of culture and its survival in a world brought too close too quickly has come to surface. The assimilation into a new referential culture, losing distinction in stride with the loss of physical boundaries and borders, has the purity of differences sacrificed at the hands of technological overkill. A modern reflective now exists and the cry to return and hold on to cultural truths is persistent. Reliance on mythos and the retelling of olde seems to preoccupy youth. The revalidation of historical lines of thought are sought after and the unsequestered purity of ancient simplicity desired.
Displacement, loyalty and home,all questioned by the newly exiled, are under scrutiny. The emigrant struggle and reclamation of place in both country and society runs prevalent in a world where the powerful still attempt to suppress artistic expression and ignore the precedence of such ill conceived notions.
An assemblage of like minds are in unison and their voices against complacency and the habitualization of Man can be heard. The struggle to awaken society and help it come to terms with value and purpose in the face of perpetual distraction is a fight not easily won. Paralleled to this desire to shake society from its copacetic sleep is the direct contradiction of a persistent escapist movement. The desire to transport and redirect society to a more personalized introverted reality weakens the promise of intellectual evolution. The allure of respite is strong; the reemergence of fantastic landscapes offers solace as contemplative future ventures.
Presently the world is lacking and seeking renewal of its relationship with nature along with a renewed sense of discovery. Reining in the intangible through analytical trial has brought the discussion of the natural world into play. It is a misguided attempt to rationalize and tame the shrew of free will. Through cheap mimicry, from the frivolous to the near fanatical, attempts to recreate and better natural beauty by unnatural means are at odds. The overeducated and overintellectualized battle through the creative process blind to its wildness. As language is changed to suit contemporary needs the discourse and redefinition of "natural" is falsely balanced alongside urban integrity.
Expanding on escapist virtues alternative realities to suit a generation longing for past glories have been created only to be realized as hollow relics. As the aesthetic ideal is turned inside out , as re-imaging and re-imagining diminishes humanity's ugliness to the point of comedic gesture, history obsessed youth question the repetitiveness of Man's foibles.

In a world of third party observers and blind sighted egotistical artists we approach the end of another decade. The state of Man, bordering on revolution and cataclysmic change, has taken self obsession and the greed of self, and perpetuated its mantra under the pretense of altruistic goals, failing to mask its self indulgence. The combination of pop culture and the live fast/die young progression to literally feel the physical life dismisses and overrides the spiritual. Amongst the religiously fired turmoil the contemporary question of faith is subverted. Faithless meets faith-critical meets faith(ful). The self proclaimed arrogance under the guise of faux spiritualism has marred the pureness of the creative drive and at the same time has propelled the importance of that very self expression. ART LIVE returns this year after its successful collaboration with Arteingenua of Italy for its inaugural debut. This year ARTLIVE welcomes The Cell Theatre, Gallery 225 and Haven Arts.
ART LIVE is an annual celebration whose sole intention is to bring to public attention current issues presently being addressed by the Arts community worldwide.
After his remarkable debut, Zach Hyman will be revealing his most coveted of images, the ultimate Decent Exposure. Also joining us for the 2009 roster are famed and legendary artists Bernard Perlin, Anton S.Kandinsky and Ulysses, along with an extensive list of prominent artists of many nations that can be viewed at www.artliveworld.com.
ART LIVE will officially get underway on September 03, 2009 with its first opening at Chair and the Maiden Gallery, 19 Christopher Street, New York, New York 10014 at 6-8 PM. The second installation will take place on September 09,2009 at Gallery 225, 225 West 14th Street, New York, New York 10011 at 6-8PM.The Cell, 338 West 23rd Street, New York will feature works by Johann Pollak and Shari Belafonte for the month of September and house the internationally acclaimed performance group Dzieci for the month of October. Haven Arts will present an array of international talents at 50 Bruckner Blvd, New York.

2008 ART LIVE: ARTEINGENUA returns to NEW YORK... through the world of young and emerging contemporary art ART LIVE: art and life. Art is life. And vice versa.
Through these two important concepts ARTEINGENUA is developing its ambitious international project in collaboration with the New York Gallery, Chair and the Maiden. This is a project that analyzes and explores young international art resulting in an exhibition consisting of carefully selected works that have been created by ARTEINGENUA's artists. This exhibition will once again promote and spread the cosmopolitan language and vision of the world of young international art, which is the best reflection and clearest key to interpreting contemporary events. This art is the most sensitive and reactive measure of reality in the new Millennium. So let’s venture into the world of the works that will be featured in the first ART.LIVE exhibition, which opens on Thursday 4 September 2008 with an Opening Reception and runs until the beginning of October 2008.
Among the upheavals of today, ARTEINGENUA’s artists express their philosophies on life, revealing their existential affinities and aesthetic differences which offer a fascinating guide to young international creativity. Some artists, such as Luca Armigero with Art Shock and Hoo Kiew Hang with Playing Time choose to express their cries through a mixture of pop art and poetic/visual art with their use of logos, brand names and the written word. Other artists express themselves through the subconscious, where signs are translated into words that insinuate, impede and suffocate, like the work David e Golia by Tommaso Nava. Artists such as Giuseppe Rumi with N.O (No Opera), Tetsuro Shimizu with Auspicio, and Francesca Stifani with Silenzio hold back their judgment on the world with abstracts that are born from work with pictorial materials. They express a tense abstraction that is sometimes enigmatic, sometimes open to change and sometimes definitive. In other areas, the outlook on the world focuses on "other" worlds that are virtual and unreal. Worlds that lose themselves and are rediscovered in digital landscapes or those of memories, as can be seen in the works of Erika Riehle De-finito, Francesco Saverio Calò Bi-locazione and Daniele Camaioni The Reef. The relationship between “I” and the “other”—between public and private or between individual and mass—is another fascinating leit motiv of young international art. Representing this concept are the duo Ester Grossi and Yashima with their work Objectu(s)=Subjectu(m), Jalayer Changiz with Nipple, Irene Iorno with the triptych Antasia, Loris Lombardo with Strani Coriandoli and Max Bi with Pasolini: l'artista maledetto. These works are faces and bodies that become phantoms or chimeras, dreams and memories in the eye of the public, or perhaps omens of an imminent present and a restless future. This is ART LIVE, the far-sighted project of Chair and The Maiden and ARTEINGENUA. From Italy to the USA—no going, no coming back; just a continuous flow of creative energy.
